..:: Is school a cultural institution? ::..

Hello!
At this time, I want to argue about this question.
I think we can call school is a cultural institution because the "culture" is the way of our lives. We go to school to learn many things, meet many friends and so on. And, these behaviors are part of our lives. That is the reason of my opinion.
I am waiting for other opinions.
wishing to see you soon,
Kazuki

Yes, I agree with you. At school, we learn about our history, which is surely a part of our culture...and we meet other people who may have different culture and opinions....in fact we create the culture of ourselves when attending a school, because we socialize and get different points of view of some issues, etc.

Hi there!
How are you guys?
I am writing to express our opinion on whether or not school is a cultural influence.
We believe that school does have a little bit of influence on culture but we think that culture has more of an influence on schools. Subjects like history, modern studies, etc. gives us an insight to our past and present events. What’s happened in the past is usually the decisions made by a certain individual and in the present. For example, the decision to go to war with other countries. These decisions left down to a couple of high-ranking political people.
We would be most grateful for any contribution or comments to our opinion on this debate.

Hello!
I read two comments.I am very pleased to read new comments.
I can agree both ideas. Especially, the decision to go to the war with other countries are connected with education,I suppose, too. In case of Japan, education was affected by goverments` control when the world war 2 broke out. However, I do not think the war were broken out by education.
Everyone, please write to me if yo have time, and discuss more.

Thanks for your input!
Sorry, but we are quite unclear on how education affects war?
Do you think school is effected by culture?
Here's a puzzeling question that we can not find the answer to.
How would you define culture?
We would be most grateful for any response!
Cheers!

Hello,
I don't say that school is a cent percent cultural institution but school is a social organization whose aim and objective is to preserve culture, norms and values of the society through imparting education about culture to the children because culture is an ornament of the society. So, school is a kind of cultural institution.
Thanks!
